The Asamushi Aquarium is the northernmost large-scale aquarium in Honshu, and houses and exhibits 8,000 aquatic organisms of about 300 species.

Take a powerful undersea walk in the undersea tunnel!
The 15-meter-long undersea tunnel is a powerful sight! The tunnel represents the “sea of Mutsu Bay,” giving visitors the sensation of walking through Aomori’s rich marine environment.
As a unique attraction, visitors can also observe scallops and ascidians being farmed. Another enjoyable experience is to look for flounder and other creatures hiding in the sand.

The aquarium has a touch corner where visitors can touch shellfish and other marine life, which is especially popular with children. Visitors can touch live sea urchins, starfish, sea anemones, hermit crabs, crabs, and other creatures that live along the edge of the waves, as well as scallops and sea squirts from Mutsu Bay. A dolphin show full of Aomori’s local flavor!
The most popular attraction at Asamushi Aquarium is the dolphin show. The theme of the show is “Matsuri (festival),” and the dolphins perform a dynamic jumping performance to the sounds of Tsugaru shamisen and flute.
The collaboration of the dolphins and music inspired by the Nebuta musical performance has a local flavor that is unique to Aomori and can only be seen here.
