Enjoy the spectacular natural scenery and seasonal attractions

Hakkoda is a sightseeing spot where visitors can enjoy various seasonal attractions such as alpine wetlands, alpine flora, trekking, autumn leaf peeping, skiing, and tree ice-watching.

Hakkoda (Hakkoda mountain range) offers a panoramic view of beautiful natural scenery, including fresh greenery in spring, alpine flora in summer, autumn leaves in fall, and tree ice in winter.

Weather permitting, visitors can also view the Aomori city area, Mutsu Bay, the Tsugaru Peninsula, the Shimokita Peninsula, and Mount Iwaki.

A feast of spectacular scenery and walking! Summit Station

The Hakkouda Ropeway operates year-round and arrives at the summit park station of Tamo-ban-dake in about 10 minutes.

The summit area is dotted with ponds and swamps and is a treasure trove of alpine flora. A variety of hiking routes are available, ranging from a casual 30-minute stroll to a 4-hour climb, allowing visitors to enjoy a course that suits them best.

The “Sunset Ropeway” operates in mid-August, and the “Starry Sky Ropeway” operates from mid to late September, allowing visitors to enjoy the wonderful sunset and starry sky.

A celebration of nature! Walking Course

The area around the Hakkoda ropeway summit station is dotted with more than 10 ponds and swamps, and is known as a treasure house of alpine flora. The walking course using a road called “Gordo Line” can be enjoyed by men and women of all ages, with Course A taking about 30 minutes and Course B about 60 minutes. Take a walk while feeling the breath of nature and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery! Kenashi Paradise Line

The Kenashi Paradise Line is an easy and enjoyable hiking course. From the summit park station, continue for about 60 minutes to Kami-Menashtai Entrance, about 30 minutes to Shimo-Menashtai Exit, and about 60 minutes to Sangayu and Jogakura (about 2 hours and 30 minutes).

There is also a 3-hour course that takes about 60 minutes from Sukayu/Jogakura to Shimo-menutai Exit, about 80 minutes to Kami-Menutai Entrance, and about 3 hours to the summit park station. Visitors can fully enjoy the beautiful scenery and wilderness.

Try the Odake Mountain Climbing Course!

The Odake Climbing Course is a general mountain trail and a route that requires zukes or climbing shoes. From the summit park station, the course takes about 70 minutes to Akakura-dake, about 20 minutes to Idodake, about 60 minutes to Odake, and about 90 minutes to Sangayu (about 4 hours).

There is also a course that takes about 110 minutes from Sukayu to Mt. Enjoy the true thrill of mountain climbing while fully appreciating the great nature of Hakkouda.
