Osorezan Onsen is a sacred spring that springs within the precincts of Entsuji Temple.
The spring erupted during the excavation of the Osorezan Mine (sulfur mine) that existed from the Meiji Period to the early Showa Period.
Osorezan is an active volcano, and the precincts of Entsuji Temple are a famous geothermal and fumarolic area.
The area is filled with volcanic gases and emits a sulfuric odor.
In the past, it was used to purify visitors who came on foot.
Even today, visitors can bathe free of charge, except for the fee for visiting Osorezan, and it is popular as a medicinal hot spring.
There are four bathhouses: Kotaki no Yu (men), Hie no Yu (women), Yakushi no Yu (men and women take turns), and Hanazome no Yu (mixed bathing), all with free-flowing spring water.
